Bagging the Ethels with the main man Lenny: Part 3

Bagging the Ethels with the main man Lenny: Part 3

Walked some more Ethels over near Hartington with the Grandparents. It’s been tough over the last few weeks but emotions change so much, we are having some ok days and are able to plan a little more now. It was nice to have a family day with Lenny and a proper good pub lunch! 10/95 completed !

Lenny’s ride to Lincoln

Lenny’s ride to Lincoln

Took a ride to ride to Lincoln with some friends, on the new bikes. Lenny was with us the whole time, it was really nice to have a good time connecting with him. There were some really special moment that I felt especially close to him peddling along a bridleway. Thanks for organising Alex and Bri xx

An Evening Peaks Ride with the Crew

An Evening Peaks Ride with the Crew

We managed a bike ride with Lenny and our good friend Bri, in the beautiful Peak District. It’s been another tough week, but pedalling (on the plush new bike) does make us both feel so much more connected to our son. Cycling really does give me some positive headspace to think about our life and Lenny. There is hope on a bike. I should try do it more, but its so hard to be motivated to do anything. I miss…

Sophie’s Sunset Ski with Lenny

Sophie’s Sunset Ski with Lenny

It was the 1st March and I was at the end of a beautiful sunny day of skiing in the Austrian Alps with friends. We were one of the last to leave the apres-ski bar at the top of the mountain and so, as we set off for our final descent of the day, the sun was setting serenely over the freshly-groomed and deserted slopes. The rest of the group sped off in front of me but I decided the atmosphere was…

Bagging the Ethels with the Main Man Lenny: Part 2

Bagging the Ethels with the Main Man Lenny: Part 2

Two more done this Week!- Sir William Hill and Wardlow Hay Cop. Don’t be disillusioned, this has been a really hard week, yes we managed to get out with Lenny for these walks, but most of the time we have been very sad at home, lots of tears and chat. We had received Lenny’s post mortem results which has been really emotionally complex and we have had a whole other mountain of stuff to deal with. One day at a…

Bagging The Ethels With The Main Man Lenny: part 1

Bagging The Ethels With The Main Man Lenny: part 1

The Ethels are 95 hills in the Peak District, mainly over 400m. They are a tribute to Ethel Haythornthwaite who was one of the founding pioneers of the Peak District National Park . Mim and I have walked many of these over the years, however, we want Lenny to walk all of them with us. So, we have started from scratch with our best pal Henghis, the first 3 were over near Hollinsclough. This is ongoing adventure is hugely important…

Lenny’s first day at the beach

Lenny’s first day at the beach

We took Lenny and the new puppy, Mac up to Bamborough beach. The weather was great but we knew the weekend would be difficult (Mother’s Day 2022), especially for Mim. So we decided to travel up to Scotland and stop off for some beach time. When we arrived the sea mist was so bad we couldn’t see the castle! – typical. We walked down to the beach and Lenny opened the sky, brought us sunshine and a very excited puppy…

A Closed Snake Pass – Two wheeled healing

A Closed Snake Pass – Two wheeled healing

The famous snake pass road over the Pennines was closed after storm damage for some of March and April. Many cyclists took advantage of this beautiful car-free road. We took Lenny of course, along with our friend Bri. We were a little apprehensive as we were told it was closed but, to be honest what’s the worst that could happen? Lenny has given us so many things, he has taught me to give less of a f**k and just go…

Lenny’s first Munro with Mac the Puppy

Lenny’s first Munro with Mac the Puppy

We took a trip to Scotland, this was our first trip away after Lenny had died. We were pretty apprehensive, we went to just have a ‘time’ not a nice time or good time, so it turned out better than we thought. One day we took Lenny and Mac up a Munro. The puppy got very cold and had to be put in my jacket for the journey down, it was about -5 on top. This was Lenny’s first Munro,…
